For the non-Australians out there, the Wiggles are a quartet of male songbirds reminiscent of the Monkees, but aimed at the Barney-watching set. The Down Under foursome sings about mashed bananas and hot potatoes, dances with the energy of fitness instructors, and makes mild attempts at being educational. (Three of the four met while studying early childhood education.) Their stab at multiculturalism results in the Jewish song "Havenu Shalom Alachem." Joining them are a big green dinosaur named Dorothy (seem familiar?), Henry the giant purple octopus, Wags the Dog, and a man in a pirate suit called Captain Feathersword. The songs are catchy, the dancing vigorous, and the outfits colorful approximations of the uniforms worn by the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. A couple of the haircuts look like they might have been acquired on the spaceship as well. The 15-song video runs 33 minutes long and claims to be appropriate for ages 1-8, but will most likely appeal to preschoolers and kindergartners. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Since this video shows Wiggles puppet songs, I think "Teddy Bear Hug" and "Numbers Rhumba" appear on the Australian version. In fact, I saw those two songs on YouTube which is on the 1994 version.

Wiggles have been a hit with our grandchildren for years ... I love watching our two youngest little granddaughters run and dance with The Wiggles. This DVD is no exception ... they both seems to love it ... it was an excellent purhase ...

Both of my children (3 yr old daughter and 1 yr old son) watch this as much as possible. My son (typical boy) will actually sit and watch the whole thing. They really enjoy it. Great songs and a lot of wiggling.

we usually watch the wiggles on sprouts morning show, and this dvd is different than what we watch on there. this is just a compilation of music videos by the wiggles. it only lasts about 35 minutes. also, it was made back in the late 90s so they guys look a little different (one is even a different one than now - 2010). thus, i would probably give it 3 stars.
none-the-less, my two children, ages 2 and 1, love to watch it and dance to the music. they ask for it. thus, my children would clearly give it 5 stars.
between the 3 of us, we average 4.3 stars. i was definitely worth the money though!

This is the first Wiggles DVD I got for my 28 month twin sons. We heard of Wiggles before, yet never heard their songs. I got this DVD at the store, and after reading the reviews here about scary puppets I thought of returning it. I am so glad I did not! The songs are so catchy and so much fun! I have to admit I love watching this video as much as my boys do! One of my sons is very sensitive and often gets upset and cries when he sees some characters in other children's DVDs (Santa Claus and the boy singing "Oh, Susanna" are the big offenders). However, he loves the Wiggles puppets! They are cute, not at all scary! We have a large collection of children's DVDs of all sorts and this Wiggles DVD is one of the most watched. Highly recommend!!!!
