3 out of 5 stars could be better   March 8, 2010

This product is cumbersom to install bccause you must kneel in the back of your suv to put the brackets in place and tighten them.
Also the wingnuts that tightens the threaded rod to the celing should have a much larger wings to facilitate tightening. The threaded rod rattles inside the sleeve that holds the dividing screen in place. No amount of tightening eliminates this rattle. I placed several wraps of duct tape at the end of the rod that enters the sleeve and this fix elininated the majority of the noise.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble, but rattles   March 6, 2010

It does the job and it was easy to assemble, but we can't get the one side to
stop rattling.

4 out of 5 stars Good barrier, could be a little sturdier   March 3, 2010

I am using this barrier in a Volvo station wagon to separate the back seat area from the front (so my dogs get both the back seats and the back wagon area).
After augmenting the barrier with a single zip tie, it does not rattle or fall apart (at first one of the plastic connectors got loose and the slipped out, making the whole contraption lopsided; not sure if this was a fluke)
It has, however, fallen down a couple of times, which could be because (1) it is in a clumsy spot, squished between the backs of the front seats and the folded-down back seats and (2) my BIG (like 100 pounds) dogs like to chew on it and bump into it. I found it pretty easy to put it back up, though. (Initial setup was also quite simple and straightforward)
I've decided that to keep using it in this position, I do need to buy the extension panel (otherwise there's a space that a dog could get stuck in between the two front seats).

3 out of 5 stars Great price, works well, but was missing parts   March 2, 2010
Vincent Anthony (Dallas, TX)
I purchased this for my 2002 Nissan Xterra. It fit in nicely, and I could still use my factory retractable cargo area cover. It was far less than the $160 Nissan charges for its mesh pet divider (the Nissan website says $100, but for my year, it is $160).

Installing wasn't super easy, but I got it done. Definitely having a helping hand will make it go by more quickly.

It rattles somewhat, but not too bad. I think if I used extra twist-ties or something similar to hold the different pieces together, I could get rid of it completely.

A minor issue would be the bolts protruding toward the pet area. I am a little afraid that they could hurt my dogs should I get into a car accident or quick stop. If I turn the bolts around, then they would poke toward the head of anyone sitting in the back seat.

My main issue would be the 2 missing parts. I called the number listed on the instructions afterhours and left a message that wasn't returned. I called back a few days later during business hours and got ahold of someone who took my information and said they would send them out. Although I did receive the missing parts, it was quite a while after the phone call.

All in all I think its a good product, but there is room for improvement.

5 out of 5 stars Gets the job done at a good price.   March 1, 2010

This barrier works very well to keep my two Boxer mixes (50 and 70 lbs) in the cargo area of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I was initially worried about the fit - since the rear seats on the Cherokee are tilted back, the barrier must go in at an angle to fit snugly against the bench seat. However, it ended up being better that way because the barrier is angled back towards the hatch and when the dogs push to get up front, they can't move it. Mine rattles on our gravel driveway but is quiet once we hit the blacktop. It was easy to put together and didn't need tightening or adjusting during a 4000+ mile road trip.
