3 out of 5 stars Make sure you have a roll of strong duct tape!   September 2, 2010
Whitney Lassini
I would love to give this box five stars, and I would have, if two out of the three I purchased had not broken already (two months). The box is simple to clean and is a lot easier on my back and arm BUT the little plastic clips that hold the lid tight (and all of the litter inside the box) break VERY easily. You don't know they are broken until you roll the box over and roll it back to reveal a huge pile of litter on the floor! A simple piece of strong duct tape has fixed the problem, and the boxes are still usable, but what a huge pain. I went ahead and taped up the third one just to be sure.

5 out of 5 stars Clean, cheap, and easy   August 31, 2010

This is simply the best litter box we have come across. It's a simple idea, but so far works flawlessly for us. Flipping it over is so easy we do it a couple of times a day. Our cats are vigorous diggers, so sometimes their urine sticks to the bottom, however when we flip it over we just hit the outside with our hand and everything falls off without any mess. The pull out tray works great and after two weeks still looks clean. Both of our cats are very petite, but we bought the large version anyway and I just can't imagine getting the smaller one. Even though it's big on the outside the usable space inside is only about two thirds of the footprint, which seems about right for the room our cats need. We use World's Best Cat Litter inside. They do track it out a little but that has nothing to do with the litter box itself, it's just a characteristic of the litter. I had my doubts that this would work when I first ordered it, but now I'm considering getting a second one for another room in the house. My wife and I are trying to get pregnant and I travel a lot with work. We are both concerned with making sure our kids are not exposed to toxoplasmosis (if you don't know what it is look here - [...]. I'm confident that this will enable her to completely avoid contact with the cat litter even when she's home alone. That alone would make this work 3-4 times the price. We looked at the Litter Robot, which seems great, but for only 1/10 of the price I don't see any reason not to choose this instead, unless you leave your cats alone for very extended periods and need the self-cleaning aspect.

2 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, gone back to scooping.   August 31, 2010

I bought several of these litter boxes after reading the reviews. If they were well made, they would work well, but they are not. Litter gets in between the pieces making the edges not line up, and litter leaks out when the box is tilted. Also, the grate that separates the clumps from the litter comes unsnapped (and eventually breaks) making it useless. I clean these boxes the old way now- remove the lids and scoop. Great design idea, but they are just too flimsy and cheaply made to work as intended.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to use and really works   August 31, 2010
WA Book Reader (Seattle, WA USA)
I was skeptical as we had previously owned a LitterMaid Self Cleaning litter box (10 yrs ago) which was loud, forced you to buy their liners and had to be placed near an outlet. We recently adopted 2 cats and needed a new litter box, but we didn't want to put it near an outlet. Based on the reviews we purchased this one and we have used the Omega Litter Box for about 5 days with two cats and I am really impressed--it's so easy to use my kids are doing it and thanks to high quality clumping litter I can quickly clean it without any gross debris left in the tray. Instructions are printed right on top of the unit. I highly recommend this litter box and we like it far more than the automated one we had previously. I'd give it 5 stars if it would reduce the odor faster (before I emptied it) and I'd give it 10 stars if it would automatically clear and take it out to the trash as well ;-).

Easy to use and clean and my fur-child likes the security of the covered box!
