Wedding Speech Strategy

Wedding SpeechThe honor of giving the wedding speech has fallen on your shoulder. You could be the jewel of the ceremony as the beautiful bride who inspires love and adoration or the groom who has shed his shining armor to bow before the love in his heart.

Maybe you are the best man who is expected to be fearless without being arrogant, funny without being insulting and of course flawless despite the fact that you have never given a speech in your life. Or, perhaps, the maid of honor who used to protect the bride against evil by wearing similar clothing. Or father of the bride who is well prepared to show his experience and he is also witty to demonstrate the wisdom resulted from the experience.

Are your intents honorable?

Whatever the occasion, you need to plan to make sure that your speech does what you intend it to do. That brings us to the first tip. Before you put your words down on paper for your wedding speech, clear your intention within yourself. What is it that you want to accomplish? What message do you want to convey? What image you want to transmit? Picture the end result of your speech delivered perfectly?

Work backwards

Once you have the end result of your speech clear in your heart, begin to form the words around the image you have. For example, as the maid of honor, do you want to convey the image that the bride is a rare catch, or do you want to convey that you will be by her side no matter what? Too many images confuse the message and stop the words from flowing. A central image for your wedding speech message is like a good story line that pulls everything together and it helps you deliver it better.

Brain Strom

Start writing things down. This is just a rough draft and this is not the time to think through things. Just write down ideas as close as possible to the image you have. Write down what you think may work with the image you have. A joke in the middle of a wedding speech to convey adoration shatters the power of the adoration speech. Jot down ideas and take notes and let your mind wander within the confines of your image. Let your image of your perfect speech guide your words and ideas.

Finalize your wedding speech

Now you have the image. For example as the result of your speech, the guests will see the tender, loving and supporting side of the groom that is hard to know. You have selected your ideas and words. For example, you tell a story of how the groom while driving to an important business meeting, pulls his car to the side of the road to pick up a dog injured in an accident and takes him to a vet. Finally organize your greeting, your story and your ending.
